| Scaglioni Edi: fashion stylist – model-maker - doll restorer and creator She lives and works in Spineda in the province of Cremona, in a place famous for doll production (Canneto sull’Oglio, which is ten kilometres from Spineda, is the homeland of “Furga “ and of many other small firms, so this area is very famous from the cultural and artisan point of view).
In 1979 she got the fashion stylist diploma and then she improved modelling and custom history.
Later the passion for ancient dolls and the pleasure of making new discoveries led her to study and to restore these dolls.
A few years ago she opened her small laboratory where she tries not only to restore every doll very carefully but, if possible, she also tries to give them their original look.
In 2003 she cooperated in the production of many reports on the restoration and the preservation of ancient dolls for De Agostini publishers Baby Dolls encyclopedia and she has been cooperating with many magazines on doll-making for a few years.
Dollmaker
Later the great experience she obtained in the field of restoration and her need to express herself artistically led her to create her own dolls, using different techniques and materials. She created very pretty fabric dolls (from the simplest to the most complex), papier-mâché and biscuit dolls, but the technique she prefers today are the polimer clay sculptures (cernit, modelene, fimo, and so on). She began to model these baby dolls after long studies on the anatomy and the proportions. To create them she invented a personal technique which makes them perfect from every point of view and now all this is giving her great satisfactions and appreciations.
Every doll she creates is a unique piece she has thought and created in every detail.
Many important Italian, German, American magazines have published some articles on her and moreover she attended many exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
"I want you to know not only this about me"
The most important thing is that I have a passion for doll-making
